WORK EXPERIENCE
As part of being a responsible business we aim to offer opportunities and leave a positive legacy in the communities in which our projects take place.
Offering work experience placements is just one way of putting back into those communities and over the years we have arranged numerous site-based and office-based opportunities. It is a great way for potential future construction employees to get a taste of our industry. It is also a very useful way for us to see what these young people can offer in terms of enthusiasm and an eagerness to learn.
Our managers and supervisors get a sense of personal satisfaction from these placements themselves, helping youngsters from all sorts of backgrounds and those less experienced to take their first step of a career in construction.
There are numerous examples of where these work experience placements have led to further employment opportunities, either with us or one of our valued supply chain partners.
TRAINEES & APPRENTICESHIPS
We recognise the importance of nurturing talent and have a solid track record of bringing young talent into the construction industry via our apprenticeship and trainee programmes.
As well as a number of apprentices, we currently have a number of employees in trainee development roles who are studying towards formal qualifications such as NVQs, HNCs, HNDs and degree level programmes.
All apprentices and trainees also undertake internally designed programmes of competence and, where appropriate, we find great benefit in giving our trainees experience in all areas of the business and so arrange functional secondments across to Group.
We also partner with shared apprenticeship schemes such as Y Prentis and Cyfle which offer an excellent opportunity for trainees to work across our supply base of sub-contractors on our projects.
