We spend an enormous amount of our time in work, it’s such an important part of our lives. So why would anyone put themselves through the pain of getting up every day and going to a job that they hated?

The growth of the company over the past year has been staggering and this has been reflected in the recruitment and succession planning of the organisation, along with high staff engagements and retention levels.

Recently a number of staff members have been promoted through the ranks, Tim Jones, was promoted to Senior Site Manager, Steven Heard to Site Manager and Josh Dowley from Trainee Site Engineer to Site Engineer.

Steven Heard has been with Jehu since 2007, he joined the business as a Labourer and completed a 3 year Carpentry Apprenticeship. Steven graduated in 2017 with a 2:1 in Project & Construction Management BSc degree from University of Wales Trinity Saint David. Steven is also a registered Construction Ambassador and frequently takes part in many student events promoting the construction industry as a career choice.

Steven said: “I have worked for Jehu for 11 years and in that time the company has acknowledged all my work efforts and my reward has been being given the opportunity to progress within the company. Jehu have thoroughly supported my education and personal needs for achieving qualifications and new job roles. They have a unique skill as a business for developing your strengths and adapting your weaknesses to enable staff to reach their ambitions whilst achieving maximum job satisfaction.”

Josh Dowley joined the business in 2013, Josh is part of Jehu Civils team and started life as a Trainee Site Engineer. Josh now a Site Engineer working on a number of sites including; Tondu Extra Care Development for Linc Cymru and former Glan Afan School site which forms part of a large regeneration scheme for Coastal Housing Group.

Tim Jones originally joined the business in 1998 as a Site Manager, years later Tim left the business to set up on his own. Tim is now back on the Jehu staff working on the Pobl Group development scheme in Cwmbwrla, Swansea and has successfully been promoted to Senior Site Manager.

Andrew Lycett, Finance and Operation Director concluded saying “We have established a strong reputation in the sectors in which we are operating. This combined with the values of a family firm and a real commitment to responsible business practises means that we are also being recognised as an employer of choice. Our headcount has already increased from 133 in March 2017 to 157 today and with further recruitment planned across the business. As we plan for sustained growth we see an exciting future ahead of us.”.
