Jehu Group are thrilled and humbled to be awarded ‘Construction Business of the Year’ at the 2022 Insider Wales Property Awards.
Jehu were proud to showcase some fantastic schemes in the awards submission which included Cwrt yr Orsaf, a 60 bed Extra Care scheme in Pontypridd; The Hedgerows, a phased 70-unit, mixed tenure development in Pennard; and Coed Darcy, a multiphase, multi-client residential scheme in Llandarcy which included 8 innovative modular homes. During an unprecedented and very unpredictable period in Jehu’s history, the sector in general, wider economy, and society at large, Jehu continues to remain focused on recovery post pandemic and in the face of exorbitant inflation.
The tenacity, dedication, and loyalty shown by our amazing staff, supply chain, consultants, and clients under exceedingly difficult circumstances has been the highlight for Jehu over the qualifying period. Winning ‘Construction Business of the Year’ holds testament to all of those who have, and continue to, support us through one of the most unprecedented periods of our 85-year trading history. It is thanks to you that we have won the award, for which we are extremely humbled.
Marc Jehu, Jehu Group CEO, commented: “We are delighted to win ‘Construction Business of the Year’ at the Insider Wales Property Awards 2022. We are proud of the schemes we have delivered in the qualifying period, as well as the innovation and adaptability the business has undertaken to navigate through such challenging times. We genuinely express our appreciation for our steadfast supply chain and consultants as well as our amazing, loyal and dedicated staff. Purposely, I would finally also like to thank our fantastic clients for the support they’ve shown Jehu Group. They have been truly outstanding during a difficult period for us, and we look forward to a successful future together.”
In recent months, Jehu Group has successfully secured new projects, with existing and longstanding clients, worth around £80 million. A further £25 million in short-term pipeline is forecasted to start in the forthcoming financial year. Projects include circa £30 million worth of contracts with Local Authorities, delivering 2nr independent living contracts with Cardiff City Council and a 53-unit residential scheme for the Vale of Glamorgan Council. We have also secured two further exciting schemes with longstanding partner Linc Cymru to develop 48 apartments, supported by Innovative funding by the Welsh Government, and an extra care development in Porth, RCT. This is in addition to a mixed tenure and commercial scheme in conjunction with RHA Wales. The Board are extremely pleased to recruit further delivery staff, specifically site management, contract management and commercial staff to support the already dedicated workforce.
Jehu Group completed close to 300 residential and extra care units in 2021/22 as well as two medical centres. This was no mean feat in the face of Covid, rising costs and labour shortages. Our recent contract awards are a clear demonstration of our Clients’ confidence in our business. We, like many others in the industry, still face significant headwinds, but we have an incredible order book to deliver essential homes in Wales and the South West and we are excited about the future.
