Doors are now open to Marriott’s ‘Moxy Hotel’ in Bristol built by Jehu Group

Jehu Group are delighted to have handed over our ‘quirky’ scheme for client Vastint BV at the boutique ‘Moxy Hotel’ this week.  Located opposite Cabot Circus in the heart of Bristol City centre, the 214-room hotel which is part of the Marriott Group, has already opened to guests.

Each Moxy has a theme, and this hotel celebrates the best of Bristol culture, The interior nods to its location with street art design throughout commissioned by local artists. The lobby features a commissioned artwork by painter and sculptor Bo Lanyon which depicts the city’s St Paul’s Carnival. There are additional works by artists including Lawrence Hoo, Charles Golding, Lucas Antics and Dr Myles-Jay Linton which celebrate the St Pauls and St Jude’s areas, Bristolian sayings and the Bristol Suspension Bridge.

Upon opening the hotel, General Manager Melih Yanik commented:  “This hotel is in a fantastic location that you can’t miss as you enter into the city, opposite Cabot’s Circus. This highly anticipated opening is a great addition to Bristol. We’re more than ready to let the personality of this hotel shine through, revolutionising what’s available in the hotel arena and look forward to welcoming guests to see what we have created.”

The scheme demonstrates Jehu’s ability not only to successfully construct in a wide range of sectors, but also shows testament to the commitment and tenacity of our construction team and wider business under challenging circumstances. The hotel was built in a busy city centre location, within the height of Covid-19 restrictions, as well as inflationary and supply chain pressures. Despite this, we have delivered a finished product that looks fabulous and will impact positively in the surrounding area.

Jehu Group’s Regional Operations Director said: “During the construction of Moxy hotel Bristol, we encountered the most challenging period in construction for a generation, with Covid-19 affecting our ability to work at pace, followed by the spiralling cost inflation as the industry recovered. However, through determination, and a strong team work ethic, we have delivered a fantastic landmark hotel for our client Vastint BV and the Marriott Group. I would like to pass on my congratulations and thanks to all the team, both on site and the support teams in Bristol and Bridgend.”
