Jehu’s QS team swap their calculators for trainer in aid of CALM

The Jehu Group, leading Welsh property and construction firm has been on a serious mission during 2017 to raise funds for male suicide prevention charity CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably).

In July, the firm hosted a fundraising band night at popular Cardiff venue the Tramshed where they successfully raised over £2,000 and during the month of September they will be hosting their annual Wales Property Triathlon in a bid to raise further funds.

Now it’s the turn of Jehu’s Quantity Surveying team, four members of the team, Owen Hagger, 34, Gareth Taylor, 37, Rhys Jenkins, 33 and Trainee QS Sam Gardner, 21, have decided they would like to support the firm’s efforts to raise money for CALM and are running in this year’s Cardiff Half Marathon.

Rhys commented; “I initially decided to do the half marathon as part of a personal goal for myself but after talking with the others we thought it would be a great team challenge and a perfect way for us to support the business and raise money for CALM.”

Following the loss of a respected and popular co-worker in July of 2016, CALM was Jehu’s chosen charity. The Charity was set up in a bid to help stop male suicide, the leading cause of death for men aged 20 to 49 across the UK.

The lads have set themselves a target of £500, Gareth Taylor who has been with the firm for 13 years said; “we aim to smash this target with the support of our generous supply chain partners, friends and family. I’m also aiming to achieve a PB so the challenge is on.”

Advanced Carpentry Solutions have kicked off the fundraising and kindly donated £100, Martin Harris, Managing Director said, “We at Advanced Carpentry Solutions are very happy to donate to this good cause, the Jehu boys are undertaking a big challenge with the half marathon. We wish them all the best for the event.” Donations have also been made by 3m’s Timberframe and Carpentry.
