Two of Jehu’s schemes are shortlisted for the 2022 Inside Housing Development Awards

Jehu Group are proud to announce that two of our projects; in partnership with our clients Cardiff Community Housing Association (CCHA) and Curo, respectively, have been shortlisted in the Inside Housing Development Awards. These awards celebrate the best residential developments across the UK, and we are delighted to be finalists alongside our clients. Congratulations to all those involved in both schemes.

As well as our incredible clients, the shortlisted nominations are credit to the collaboration and industrious efforts from all our supply chain, consultants, and of course our loyal and dedicated employees.

Maelfa Regeneration has made an enormous impact on the Cardiff suburb of Llanedeyrn. Being shortlisted for the ‘Best Regeneration Project – up to 100 homes’ is testament to the years’ of arduous work that have gone into transforming the area.

The development, delivered through extensive collaboration with Cardiff Community Housing Association (CCHA), Cardiff City Council and Austin-Smith:Lord, provided 56 new high quality affordable homes, along with 9 new retail units occupied by the original retailers. The generous, landscaped, public square is a focal space for the existing and new community.

Carl Hayes, Project Manager CCHA commented: “This incredibly challenging major regeneration project, of an existing 70’s indoor shopping centre, that had become a target for vandalism and anti-social activities, owes its success to the numerous community engagement along with stakeholder constellations carried out by the design teams, ensuring that the project team fully understood the communities needs and aspirations, leading to 56 new high quality affordable homes being built, along with 9 new retail units occupied by the original retailers benefiting from environmental improvements, accessibility, and a safer inviting location to live and work.”

Phase three of Maelfa Regeneration, which includes 41 independent living units with Cardiff Council, is due to commence in July 2022. This additional housing development consists of one and two bedroom, fully accessible, care-ready homes, accompanied with a multitude of communal facilities for both the existing tower block and new development.

Additionally, our current scheme in partnership with Curo at ‘The Willows,’ is in the running for Best Affordable Housing Development. Jehu Group is working alongside West of England Housing Association, Curo, to deliver 57 new affordable homes at The Willows regeneration project in Lawrence Weston, Bristol.

All new homes at The Willows will be affordable housing. The 13 flats, created through the conversion of a disused Curo office block, will be social housing for people over 55. The remaining 44 homes will be available to rent at affordable rates and to buy through the low-cost home ownership scheme, Shared Ownership. The development will also enhance and contribute positively to the appearance the area.

On being shortlisted for two of our schemes Simon Jehu, Group CEO of Development commented: “We are elated that two of our schemes have been shortlisted for the Inside Housing Awards 2022. We are proud of both schemes, and as always, wholeheartedly express our gratitude to our resolute supply chain and consultants, as well as our formidable, stalwart staff and immensely supportive clients who have all have been exceptional during the recent challenging period. We are very much focused on the future and look forward to continuing to achieve successful schemes together”

The winners will be announced at an Awards ceremony on the 30th of September 2022 at the Royal Lancaster, London.
