Former Barry Magistrates Courts site achieves National Award

Jehu Project Services has been awarded a Considerate Constructors Scheme National Award  (BRONZE) at a ceremony in London.

The CCS National Awards recognise outstanding commitment and achievement in improving the image of construction and is recognised by all the major players in the industry.

Working with the client Newydd Housing and Vale of Glamorgan Council , the Jehu  team, lead by Vince Alm and Nyron Wood built 52 new homes and 3 retail units on the site of the former Barry Magistrates Courts in Barry, Vale of Glamorgan.

With the creation of the Construction Opportunities Coordinator role, Bernie Mark worked closely with  Nyron and the site team and jointly the site provided 6 apprentice posts, 125 weeks of training, various work placement opportunities with one placement for a female carpenter leading to a job opportunity, plus welcoming  over 200 visitors to site during the build, many from local schools  and colleges.

The scheme achieved an outstanding score of 42/50 during the CCS monitors visits leading to the nomination for the 2016 National Site Award in April 2016 which was attended by representatives of the client and Jehu Project Services.
