Vince Alm

Name: Vince Alm

Job title: Lead Project Manager

Time at Jehu: I’ve been at Jehu since 2012. I’ve always worked in construction. I left school and became an apprentice brick layer, working my way up the career ladder. I’ve worked for Leadbitter and Westbury Homes, amongst others.

What do you do in your role?

In my role as lead project manager, I am responsible for a cluster of Jehu sites, coordinating the design, production and commercial elements, making sure it’s all within budget. I help oversee the H&S and I’m often our client’s first port of call.

Once we hand a site over to a client, I then manage the making good defect period.

How has Jehu supported you?

Jehu has been very good with me. As a family run business, it is very open and you can always talk directly with the company’s decision makers.

They’ve invested in my training, including allowing me to do a Postgraduate Certificate (PgC) in Leadership & Management at Cardiff Metropolitan University and a Level 7 qualification in association with the Chartered Management Institute (CMI).

What do you love about working for Jehu?

I love that Jehu empower you to do your work. They give you responsibility to make decisions, innovate and manage your own time and workload. What’s more, there’s some extremely talented people that work here, who are really good to work with.

What’s your proudest achievement?

Working on the landmark re-development of the former Barry Magistrates Court for Newydd Homes. It was a pleasure to work with site manager Nyron Wood on this scheme. We got it out on time, within budget and it was of a great quality. It subsequently went on to win a Considerate Constructor Scheme national award which topped off a great project.

What’s your best quality?

I think my communication skills are up there. I also have a good technical understanding of a lot of different things which means that I can lead design teams, chair a meeting, and confidently communicate with clients, subcontractors and other professionals within the construction industry.

One of Jehu’s values is ‘qualitywhat does it mean to you?

Quality runs through everything we do. From the quality of the environment we work in, to the quality service we give our clients and the quality way we treat subcontractors.
