As part of our project with Trivallis, where we are building 40 units for affordable rent on the former Springfield Court, we have funded the delivery of Go4it! In the Cae Fardre area.
Go4it! is a project helping families with children under 11 to become more active. It fits in with perfectly with Jehu’s Responsible Business agenda.
The team of Go4it! coordinators deliver events, taster sessions and family coaching to help identify and overcome the barriers they have to accessing or participating in local physical activity sessions.
To launch our involvement with the scheme, a sports day was hosted where families could try out a variety of sports including laser tag, dodgeball and crazy golf. Since its launch, the project has delivered a number of cooking sessions improving skills in preparing and presenting meals created
with healthy ingredients.
Project successes include:
- Community capacity building
- Changing attitudes to physical activity and healthy eating
- Tackling barriers to participation in physical activity
- Raising aspirations and confidence amongst the local community
