Earlier this year Jehu Group engaged with the Welsh based organisation Chwarae Teg which is Welsh for “Fair Play”. The charity, which was set up in 2009 aims to support the economic development of women in business, as well as working with businesses and organisations to develop and improve diversity in working practices.
Chware Teg consultants will advise and work with Jehu Group implementing best practice policy on gender equality.
Marc Jehu, Managing Director Contracting for Jehu Group explained; “We were particularly interested given the under representation of women in the construction industry. At Jehu Group there are a number of ladies in a variety of roles across the business. We want to do all we can to support their career development as well as encouraging women into our industry through modern working practice and fair recruitment.”
Jehu Group are supporting a number of employees to undertake Chwarae Teg’s “Agile Nation 2” Women’s Career Development Programme commencing this month. The programme is designed to enhance team leadership skills and assist in creating an action plan for individual development. The qualification is accredited to the Institute of Leadership & Management (ILM).
One of the delegates is Amelia Landeg, Waterstone Homes Sales Negotiator, who is currently on maternity leave. “I was keen to undertake the programme and experience some training aimed specifically at my own personal skills and development which will be very different to, and build on, the more vocational training we have undertaken previously. For me it will also be a great way of keeping in touch with other colleagues on the course whilst on my leave period.”
