After a long two-year wait, our CEO of Development Simon Jehu has finally had his place on the TCS London Marathon confirmed for October 2022!
Simon will be honouring his commitment to Jehu Group’s current Charity Partner Carers Trust Wales when he participates in the marathon in October which was originally planned for 2020. Sadly, the amazing partnership which has achieved so much throughout its duration, ends at the end of March and we will be launching our next Charity Partnership on April 1st. Because of the strong relationship we have developed, we are still committed to supporting Carers Trust Wales in any way we can and hope to raise as much money as possible for Simon’s challenge.
It has been amazing to have Carers Trust Wales as our Charity Partner for the past three years, and despite the challenges that COVID has presented, we are proud of what we have achieved together.
The partnership has not only raised over £30,000 for Carers Trust Wales from its fundraising activities, which have ranged from physical challenges such as our highly respected Wales Construction Triathlon, sky dives, football match at Cardiff City Stadium, and bike rides, to bake offs, breakfast mornings and make-up tutorials. It has also had an impact on raising awareness of the Charity’s work with unpaid carers within our business.
CEO of Development Simon Jehu has said ahead of his challenge: “We have achieved so much from our Charity Partnership with Carers Trust Wales and developed such a fantastic relationship with them and their wider network which has meant a lot to our company. As this will be the final fundraising activity we’ll undertake, I will be putting my all into training and raising as much as I can”
Carers Trust Wales is committed to improving support and services for unpaid carers. We aim to shape a better future with and for carers in Wales by raising awareness, empowering carers and influencing change. We work closely and collaboratively with our Network Partners – local and regional independent charities which deliver information, advice, and practical support for unpaid carers in Wales. Last year our Network Partners reached more than 36,000 carers in Wales. We know that there are at least 370,000 carers in Wales (which is 10% more than the population of Cardiff) and that three in five of us will become a Carer at some point in our lives. Carers Trust Wales is committed to making sure that all carers receive the recognition and support they deserve.
Simon Hatch, Director of CTW added “This partnership has meant a huge amount to Carers Trust Wales. Jehu has gone above and beyond what we hoped for and together we have achieved a real legacy of understanding and commitment from the Jehu management and staff to supporting unpaid carers in Wales. For a small team like Carers Trust Wales every penny really does count and for Jehu to raise over £30,000 for our work is amazing. It has helped thousands of unpaid carers across Wales, and I would like to thank the entire Jehu team for their incredible efforts over the last 3 years. It says everything about the support Jehu have given us that their CEO Simon Jehu is honouring his commitment to run the London Marathon for Carers Trust Wales in October 2022. We’re delighted and look forward to cheering him on.”
